In 2010 while living in Sarasota a slew of graffiti artists descended onto the city for an annual ChalkFest which gained global recognition. I would follow the works as they went up. One artist in particular set up shop and created several amazing pieces – a French artist living in Berlin named MTO. After the successful gathering and event, the city began to attack some of the imagery, one piece in particular. The local news was late to the topic and social media exploded with discussion. I snagged a camera and went to film a statement about the city and the piece in question – 1 mile from the world-renowned Ringling College of Art and Design where I also attended college. I felt it was important at the time. MTO also felt the impact of his work and crafted a documentary that is compelling and well worth a watch. You can see me at 15:27.
