Mr.Beery’s ~ Beer and Starwars Lowbrow Art Extravaganza is a social experimental exhibit. The concept centers around combining pop culture imagery with a non-traditional gallery space.
I filled the walls with Star Wars-inspired “Lowbrow Art” of all sorts — everything from photography, digital media, mixed media, live graffiti and homages to old masters, and garnered two reviews in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune the week of the event. The free event also included live screen-printing via Clothesline, live graffiti artist SouthernDrawl, a theater screening the original trilogy, and Mr. Beery’s Owner Mark Tuchman & wife Christine posing for photos dressed as Jabba the Hut and Princess Leia. They were thrilled with the enthusiasm and turnout for the event and so was I – it was an amazing experience and has fueled a second event in the works.
